Hovercode, Uniqode, Unitag: which alternative?

Three well-known dynamic QR services, three different policies when you stop paying. For codes already in print, that last point often matters most.

How much do Hovercode and Uniqode cost?

According to their official pricing pages, checked on 23 October 2026: Hovercode Pro costs $12 a month or $120 a year; Uniqode Basic costs $9 a month, billed yearly. Prices are in US dollars, as listed.

For Unitag we didn’t record a price: check its official page.

What happens to codes after cancelling?

At Hovercode only 3 dynamic codes stay active; at Uniqode codes become inactive, according to their official pages. At Scanotte, what fits the free plan keeps working and the rest redirects read-only for 12 more months, then shows “expired”.

None of these rules keeps dynamic codes running with no time limit: only a static code depends on no subscription. See do QR codes expire?.

Where are these services better?

They may suit you better if you need features Scanotte doesn’t have: bulk creation, an API or a custom domain. Check their official pages for which plan includes what.

Hovercode also keeps a few codes active after cancellation, which beats cutting everything off.

Why choose Scanotte?

For a shop, a club or a freelancer: free and unlimited static codes, 1 free editable code with no trial, prices in euros with VAT included, statistics with no IP or cookie, and 12 months of redirects after cancelling.

Static QR codes are free and unlimited. For editable QR codes with statistics: 1 is free, then Starter at €6.90 a month (15 editable QR codes), Pro at €12.90 a month (100) or Business at €39 a month (500). Billed yearly, that’s €5.90, €11 and €33 a month. How it works is explained in the dynamic QR code.

How do I switch without breaking my codes?

A dynamic code can’t be transferred: it holds the original service’s address. Create the new codes, swap them in as you reprint, and keep the old subscription during the transition if old codes must keep working.

For the method, read editing a printed QR code and our checklist in the best QR code generator.

Which details should I compare first?

Start with the number of dynamic codes included and the cancellation rule, then the length of statistics and team seats. Those four points decide most of the real cost over time.

Prices in dollars and in euros with VAT aren’t directly comparable: work out what you’d pay in your own currency.
