QR code for a PDF

A user manual, an event programme, a brochure: the code opens the document on the phone. With an editable code you can replace it with a new version without touching the printed code.

Fill in the fields to see your QR.

Static QR: free and works forever, but it can't be edited and its scans aren't counted.

Make an editable version with statistics

How do I make a QR code for a PDF?

Put your PDF online (your website, or cloud storage with a public share link), copy the link, then make the code for that link. Scanotte doesn’t host the file itself.

Check the link opens on a phone that isn’t signed in to your account: that’s what people who scan will see.

Static or editable for a PDF?

Go editable if the document will change: new version, new file address. You change the destination; the printed code stays.

Static QR codes are free and unlimited. For editable QR codes with statistics: 1 is free, then Starter at €6.90 a month (15 editable QR codes), Pro at €12.90 a month (100) or Business at €39 a month (500). Billed yearly, that’s €5.90, €11 and €33 a month.

Which documents work well?

Instructions on a product label, event programmes, sales brochures, spec sheets, house rules, restaurant menus.

Think mobile: a 40-page A4 PDF is hard to read on a small screen. A web page or a short PDF is often more comfortable.

Can I tell if the document is being read?

Yes with an editable code: you see scans per day, device, system and approximate country. You don’t see who read it or how many pages.

For each scan, Scanotte records the date, the type of device, the operating system and the approximate country. It never keeps the IP address and sets no cookie on the people who scan; link previews (WhatsApp, Slack…) aren’t counted. The privacy side is covered in QR codes and GDPR.

Which cloud storage should I use?

Any service that gives a public link and keeps it stable: your own website, Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive and the like. What matters is that the link opens without signing in.

Some services change the link when you upload a new version of the file. That’s exactly where an editable code helps.
