Make a QR code with a logo

A QR code in your colours, with your logo in the middle, gets noticed. Above all it has to keep scanning: here’s how to customise it without losing scans.

Fill in the fields to see your QR.

Static QR: free and works forever, but it can't be edited and its scans aren't counted.

Can you put a logo in a QR code without breaking it?

Yes, because QR codes include error correction: part of the squares can be hidden and the phone still rebuilds the data. The logo just needs to stay small enough to fit within that margin.

When you add a logo, Scanotte automatically switches to the highest correction level (H) and clears the dots behind the image so the code stays readable. The idea is explained in how QR codes work.

What design options does Scanotte offer?

You choose the dot colour and background colour, the dot shape (square, rounded, round and other styles), the corner shape, and you can add a logo. Styling happens in the app, on every type of code.

The free generator on this page makes a plain black-on-white code: for logos and colours, use the app — no account needed to start.

Which logos work best?

A simple logo that reads at small sizes, on a plain background: an icon or an initial rather than a long wordmark. A square image sits best in the centre.

Avoid very pale logos on white, or detailed images that turn into a blur once printed at 2 or 3 cm.

Which colours keep it readable?

Dark dots on a light background, always. Many phones struggle with inverted codes (light dots on dark) or colours that are too close together.

Your brand colour works if it’s dark enough: navy, burgundy, forest green. More in readable coloured QR codes.

Static or editable for a branded code?

Both can be styled the same way. An editable code has one edge: it holds a short address, so the pattern is less dense and leaves more room for the logo.

Branded codes usually end up on nicer print, so being able to change the link later also saves a costly reprint. See the dynamic QR code. Static QR codes are free and unlimited. For editable QR codes with statistics: 1 is free, then Starter at €6.90 a month (15 editable QR codes), Pro at €12.90 a month (100) or Business at €39 a month (500). Billed yearly, that’s €5.90, €11 and €33 a month.

How do I know my branded code is safe to print?

Test it the way people will use it: printed at final size, in normal light, with two different phones, one of them a few years old. If one phone hesitates, simplify one setting at a time.

Start with the logo (smaller or simpler), then the colour (darker), then the size (bigger). Changing everything at once makes it hard to see what fixed it.

Frequently asked questions

Does adding a logo cost extra?

No, logos and colours are available in the app, including on free static codes.

How big should the logo be?

As small as possible while still recognisable. Scanotte already caps its size in the centre; if a phone struggles, simplify the logo.

My logo QR code won’t scan. What now?

Check the contrast, make the code bigger and try it without the logo. If it works without, choose a simpler image.

Does the SVG keep the logo?

Yes, the SVG contains both the code and the logo. Keep an eye on the quality of your original image.
