Static QR: free and works forever, but it can't be edited and its scans aren't counted.

Make an editable version with statistics

Is it really free, with no catch?

Yes: a static QR code holds your link directly and goes through no server, so nothing can switch it off. You can make as many as you like, without an account.

The usual catch with “free” sites applies to dynamic QR codes, which go through the provider’s address and can stop when a trial ends. We cover it in do QR codes expire?.

Which QR codes can I make for free?

On these pages: a link, a Wi-Fi network, a business card and a Google review link. In the Scanotte app you also get WhatsApp, e-mail and plain text.

Each one has its own guide, such as the Wi-Fi QR code or the vCard business card.

Is my data sent anywhere?

No. The generator on these public pages computes and draws the code in your browser; your link, Wi-Fi password or contact details never leave your device.

Editable QR codes are different: the destination is stored by Scanotte, because Scanotte performs the redirect on every scan.

Static or editable: which one do I need?

Go static if the link won’t change, and editable if you’re printing in bulk and the destination might move. Editable codes also give you scan statistics.

The full comparison is in static vs dynamic. Static QR codes are free and unlimited. For editable QR codes with statistics: 1 is free, then Starter at €6.90 a month (15 editable QR codes), Pro at €12.90 a month (100) or Business at €39 a month (500). Billed yearly, that’s €5.90, €11 and €33 a month.

How do I avoid an unreadable printed code?

Most failures come from a code that’s too small, too little contrast, or a mistyped link. A paper test at real size catches almost all of them.

Before printing: dark dots on a light background, at least 2 cm (about 0.8 in) wide, a small logo if any, and a test with two different phones. For details, read the minimum QR code size.

Can I use it for my business?

Yes, on flyers, packaging, posters, receipts or your shop window. There are no usage limits and no watermark on the downloaded file.

If the page behind the code is likely to change (a seasonal offer, a menu, a booking page), an editable code saves you from reprinting everything later.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an account to make a QR code?

No. Static codes need no account. Even in the app you can start without one: what you create is kept in your browser. An account lets you find your codes everywhere and subscribe.

Will my free QR code expire?

A static QR code has no expiry date: it works as long as the page it points to exists.

Is there a watermark or an ad?

No, the downloaded code only contains your link. People who scan it go straight to your page.

Can I add a logo or colours?

Yes, in the Scanotte app, for free. The generator on this page makes a plain black-on-white code.
