Free Wi-Fi QR code

Your guests or customers scan it and their phone joins the Wi-Fi. The code is built here, in your browser: your password isn’t sent anywhere.

Fill in the fields to see your QR.

Static QR: free and works forever, but it can't be edited and its scans aren't counted.

How does a Wi-Fi QR code work?

The code holds the network name, the security type and the password, in a format phones understand. Scan it with the camera and the phone offers to join the network.

It’s a static code: the details are in the pattern itself. It’s free and works as long as your network keeps the same name and password. To see what’s inside those little squares, read how QR codes work.

Is my password sent anywhere?

No. The code is computed and drawn in your browser, on this page; nothing reaches our servers.

Bear in mind that anyone who scans it can read the password, so display it only where you’d happily say it out loud. For a business, a separate guest network is the safer choice.

What should I pick under Security?

Choose WPA for almost every modern router, including WPA2 and WPA3 ones. WEP is only for very old equipment, and “none” is for an open network.

Type the network name exactly as it appears on your phone, capitals and spaces included.

What if I change the password?

You need to make and print a new code, because the password is in the pattern. An editable QR code can’t help here: joining Wi-Fi doesn’t go through a link, so there’s nothing to redirect.

Tip: print it on something easy to swap (a table tent, a laminated card) rather than straight onto a wall.

Is it useful for an Airbnb or holiday let?

Very: guests get online the moment they arrive, without hunting for the router or messaging you. Put it in the welcome book and near the front door.

Add a code to your online house guide in the same book, and one to your Google reviews for check-out. If you change the password between seasons, remember to reprint.

Where should I put it, and how big?

By the entrance, on tables, in the guest room — wherever people sit down. Before printing: dark dots on a light background, at least 2 cm (about 0.8 in) wide, a small logo if any, and a test with two different phones.

It pairs well with other codes, such as your restaurant menu on the same table card.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Wi-Fi QR code really free?

Yes, static codes are free and unlimited, with no account. Download it as PNG or SVG.

Does it work on iPhone and Android?

Yes, the cameras on iPhones and recent Android phones read Wi-Fi codes and offer to connect.

Can my Wi-Fi QR code expire?

No: it isn’t tied to any service. It works as long as the network name and password stay the same.

What about an open network with no password?

Choose “none” under Security: the code will only hold the network name.
