Static QR: free and works forever, but it can't be edited and its scans aren't counted.
Make an editable version with statisticsWhat is a vCard QR code?
It’s a QR code holding a contact card in vCard format: name, company, phone, e-mail, website. The phone that scans it offers to save the contact.
It’s static: the details live in the pattern. It’s free and relies on no service, just like a free link QR code.
What should I include?
Only what’s useful: first and last name, company, phone and e-mail are usually enough, plus your website if you have one. More text means a denser code that’s harder to read when small.
Write your phone number in international format (+44…, +1…) so it can be dialled from anywhere.
What if I change number or job?
A static vCard code then has to be remade. If your details change often, another option is an editable QR code pointing to a multi-link page in your name, which you update whenever you like.
Scanotte’s multi-link page shows your name, a short line about you and buttons (website, LinkedIn, booking, WhatsApp). See how to edit a printed QR code. Static QR codes are free and unlimited. For editable QR codes with statistics: 1 is free, then Starter at €6.90 a month (15 editable QR codes), Pro at €12.90 a month (100) or Business at €39 a month (500). Billed yearly, that’s €5.90, €11 and €33 a month.
vCard or a link to my profile?
A vCard saves you straight into the phone, even offline; a profile link (LinkedIn, website) makes people open a page and then act. For a first contact at a trade show, the vCard is quicker.
If you want both, put the vCard on the back of your card and a multi-link page code on your marketing material. One code, one job.
Where should the code go on the card?
On the back, or in a corner of the front with a short line like “Scan to save my details”. Keep a white margin around it: that’s what helps the phone spot the code.
Before printing: dark dots on a light background, at least 2 cm (about 0.8 in) wide, a small logo if any, and a test with two different phones. Sizes are covered in the minimum QR code size.
Is my data sent anywhere?
No, the code is made in your browser on this page; your contact details don’t reach our servers.
Once printed, though, anyone who scans it can read what’s inside, so only include what you’d print on the card anyway.
