QR code for a Google Form
An end-of-training survey, a workshop sign-up, a classroom quiz: the code opens the form on the phone, with no address to type.
Fill in the fields to see your QR.
Static QR: free and works forever, but it can't be edited and its scans aren't counted.
Make an editable version with statisticsHow do I make a QR code for a Google Form?
In Google Forms, click “Send”, choose the link icon, copy the address (you can shorten it with the option offered) and paste it into the generator at the top of the page. Done.
It works the same way for Microsoft Forms, Typeform, Tally or any online form: all you need is a link.
Which settings should I check before printing?
Open the link on a phone that isn’t signed in to your Google account. If the form requires sign-in (the “limit to 1 response” option, or a restriction to your organisation), part of your audience will be blocked.
Also make sure the form is accepting responses: a closed form shows an error, even though the code itself works perfectly.
Where is a form code useful?
At the end of a training session or talk (last slide), on a trade-show stand, at a club’s front desk, on a receipt for feedback, in class for a quiz, on an event poster for sign-ups.
For public reviews of your business, use the Google review code instead: it opens the review box directly.
Static or editable for a form?
If you switch forms each session (course, workshop, term), an editable code saves time: the same printed or projected code points to the new form.
Static QR codes are free and unlimited. For editable QR codes with statistics: 1 is free, then Starter at €6.90 a month (15 editable QR codes), Pro at €12.90 a month (100) or Business at €39 a month (500). Billed yearly, that’s €5.90, €11 and €33 a month. For a single long-lived form, a free QR code is enough.
Do the statistics replace the form’s own?
No, they complement each other. Scanotte counts scans of the code; Google Forms counts submitted responses. The gap between the two shows how many people opened the form without filling it in.
For each scan, Scanotte records the date, the type of device, the operating system and the approximate country. It never keeps the IP address and sets no cookie on the people who scan; link previews (WhatsApp, Slack…) aren’t counted.
How do I get more responses?
Say how long it takes and what the answers are for, right next to the code: “2 minutes to help us improve the workshop”. A short form on a phone gets filled in more willingly than a long questionnaire.
Show the code at the right moment, while the experience is fresh: end of session, at the exit, on the receipt. Keep the link in plain text for people who’d rather type it.
